The UVX80 is based upon a popular mid 80's Japanese synth keyboard and comes bundled with over 250 patches. The UVX80 feature set and GUI design are both typical UVI, great for regular users of UVI synth instruments as the UVI synth familiarity in this product will quickly diminish any kind of learning curve. There is a vast selection of presets that lend themselves more to rhymic styles of synth sounds. I found I only needed to hold a key down for 2 bars to get inspired to produce a song. Learn how to use compression: http://learncompression.com Learn to mix hip-hop: http://mixinghiphop.com Improve your ears: http://quiztones.com Mixing tips: http://theproaudiofiles.com How to configure your Pro Tools recording sessions in to make it easier to jump around from one section to another. Also, how to focus on individual instruments or groups of instruments if you're going to be doing some editing. --- Transcript: I'm gonna demonstrate some tricks that you can use to configure your recording sessions inside of Pro Tools to make it easier to do things like jump around from one section of your song to another section of your song. Or do things like focus on individual instruments or groups of instruments if you know that you're going to be doing a lot of editing of them. Now it does take a bit of extra work on the front end to set up your session to do all these things, however if you do it, a lot of times this can, in fact, speed up a lot of your workflow for the remaining time that you're having to edit in that session. First is how you can use memory locations to do a bunch of different things. Also how to use zoom presets. So let's first start out with the memory locations. Many people are familiar with the basics of memory locations and what you can use them for, so for instance, as the name would suggest, you can have your computer kind of memorize the different locations or store in it's memory the parts of your song that you're interests in marking. So if you want to make the introduction, the chorus, and the verse, it's just a matter of bringing the playback head or the cursor to that location and marking it. On my computer keyboard I can use function and enter, that's gonna create a location. I'll call this intro. Next up is my first verse. I know that it's at this location right here. And create another one, call it verse 1. My chorus comes in right here. I can continue to do this for the remainder of the different sections of my song. And then, all you have to do is just click on these different memory locations, and the playback head will jump to those different parts. So if you just wanna quickly jump to the first verse — listen to that. Jump to the chorus. Or the intro. This is kind of the simplest way that you can use memory locations, so I'll come back to these in a little while, and show you some more advanced features of how to use memory locations. Next up though I want to show you zoom presets. The idea with zoom presets is you can set the relative level that you've either zoomed in or zoomed out on your session and set them to hot keys, or buttons up here. So, for instance, the most basic way to zoom is to use the zoom tool. You can zoom in and out like this. You hold the Option key, you can zoom out. So, the way that I like to do it in my sessions is to kind of start from a global perspective for the broad big picture view of my session and set this to one of the zoom presets and then kind of zoom in at these different levels and set them as different presets. [removed] Coming back to memory locations now. You can use memory locations not only just to mark the different places of your song, but to actually zoom to that section of your song too, so it's kind of like a zoom preset and memory location in one. Let me show you that. I'm gonna zoom in and just focus on this part of my song. So I'll zoom in really far, fill the screen with this chorus. Go back to my memory locations window. I'm gonna create a new one now. Call this chorus 2. Now, what I had selected before is just this marker. You can actually do things like move on and use a selection tool. What this is gonna do is allow me to set a location or a memory and store in memory the fact that I have selected with the cursor just chorus 2. So if I've got it in loop record, I don't have to go in and find that location of the song and drag it out (the cursor) just to focus on that area. I just set up that selection right here. I can go in and click on zoom settings now. And click ok. I've got chorus 2, you'll see that it's got different things over here for the selection zoom. That way now, if I go back to a different part of my song: verse 1, now I click on chorus 2, it zooms me right back in on that chorus and then it's highlighted that part so that I can just listen back just to that part if that's the way I want to edit it. Selectively Applying Perfectly Clear Adjustments

While Perfectly Clear is designed to recognize important details in a photo and make adjustments automatically, some users want to apply it in a very targeted way. For example, maybe you want to select just one part of a photo like a sky for manipulation or only want to adjust the color of the clothing your subject is wearing. By combining the power of Photoshop’s selection tools and using Perfectly Clear as a smart filter, you can make precise adjustments. In this video, we’ll build upon the skills covered in other training videos. Let’s make a targeted nondestructive adjustment. In other words, we’ll select a particular area of a photo for adjustment and then apply Perfectly Clear in a way that’s easy to tweak or modify. To start, open an image into Photoshop. Choose File Open and navigate to the file you want and click Open. Now let’s work with Perfectly Clear in a nondestructive manner. This technique is done by converting a layer or image into a Smart Object. This can be done by right-clicking on a layer and choosing Convert to Smart Object. You can also choose Filter Convert for Smart Filters.Let’s take precise control over adjusting areas in a file. Photoshop offers many selection tools, but let’s try one of my favorites.Choose the Quick Selection tool. Now drag over our subject to make a basic selection. Don’t worry about being perfect. You can hold down the Option or the Alt key to subtract from the selection. Once the subject is roughly selected, click the Select and Mask button in the toolbar. A new dialog opens, this allows you to refine the selection. Check the box for Smart Radius under Edge Detection. Drag the Radius selection to improve the selection and create a gentler more natural selection. You can also drag the Feather and Smooth sliders to create a more gradual transition between selected and deselected pixels. If you’d like you can also click and paint on the preview image to touch up the selection. Be sure to try the Option and Alt key modifier as you paint as well. When the preview selection looks good, make sure the Output to menu has the option chosen for Selection. Click OK to create an active selection. Now, let’s apply Perfectly Clear to just the selected subject. Choose Filter Athentech Imaging Perfectly Clear Complete V3.The initial preview may show that the entire photo is being selected, this is what’s wanted. Due to the Smart Filter approach and the selection applied, we’ll use a mask to hide parts of the adjusted photo. For this image, I’m going to enhance the Sky. Let’s use both Color Restore and Color Vibrancy. The manual Sky Enhance controls may also help. Let’s also use Tint Correction to remove the color cast from the clouds.Remember you can preview between the before and after states. These are in fact the two different views that are going to be mixed. When satisfied, click OK to apply the Smart Filter.Notice that the Perfectly Clear effect is only applied to the sky. In the Layers panel, you’ll see a mask has been applied. The white areas are affected by the filter, and the black areas indicate where the original photo is showing through. If you’d like to refine this mix, you can click to make the mask active. Now using a paintbrush, I can modify the mask. White adds to the mask and black subtracts. You can also use a lower opacity brush or gray to blend the Smart Filter.Let’s try another technique. To start, I’ll nest this object inside another Smart Object. This workflow lets me apply a second instance of Perfectly Clear to the photo.Right-click on the Layer and choose to Convert to Smart Object. This command has now nested the previous image inside a new smart object. Now let’s optimize other areas of the photo. Choose Select Color Range. This command is very powerful. From the Select menu choose Sampled Colors and check the Localized Color Clusters box to limit the selection further. Now click on the image or preview to make an initial selection. Use the Shift key to add to this selection and the Option or Alt key to subtract. The white pixels will be affected and the black ones ignored. You can also use the Range and Fuzziness sliders to refine. When satisfied, Click OK. Now, let’s apply the second instance of Perfectly Clear to the image. Choose Filter Athentech Imaging Perfectly Clear Complete V3. Let’s use the Outdoor preset and adjust a few of the sliders to refine. The image looks a lot better.Click OK to apply the effect. Only the targeted pixels have been affected. If you decide you want to adjust the image, you can select the mask and just double click on the mask and then click to reuse the Color Range Command. You can also revisit the paintbrush techniques. To modify the filter, just double-click its name, If you want to modify the first instance that’s simple too. Just double-click the layer to open the smart object. When done making adjustments, close and save to update the file.

Presets can be bought and then downloaded online, downloaded for free on various online platforms and they can be created. We are not going to be looking at downloading or creating the presets as that is out of the scope of this tutorial. In this tutorial, I am assuming that you have Lightroom installed, have a program that can unzip compressed files, you have downloaded a zip file with the presets or have preset files available on your computer and that you know how to navigate the folder structure of your computer be it a Mac or a PC. Without further ado, the steps: 1. Open Lightroom and open any image that you have on your computer. This is important because we will be using this image to see if the presets were installed correctly and that they work. 2. Ensure that you have gone to the develop module as shown below. Note that the active module will have white text while the modules that are unselected have grey font color. 3. After you are inside “Develop”, you will see a box of presets on your left as shown below: This box shows all of the presets that you already have installed in your Lightroom application. This is where the presets you install will be listed. 4. Now we need to go into the folder where you have the zip file of the presets downloaded into. If your presets are not inside a zip file, skip this step. For those who have their presets inside a zip file, extract them to a folder that you can access easily. For those whose presets are already unzipped or were not sipped in the first place, ensure to make note of the folder your presets reside in. Also note that Lightroom presets have an “lrtemplate” file extension 5. Go back to Lightroom and have your cursor hover anywhere inside the grey presets box. Do not left click on anything but rather right click inside this box if you are on PC or hold down command and left click. When you do, this menu will pop up: Click on new folder, enter the name of the folder where your presets will reside in. When you click create, you will see it added to the left hand side in your list of preset folders. 6. Now right click, on a PC, or hold control and left click, on a mac, on the name of the folder you have just created and left click on import. Once you do you will be taken to your file explorer where you will need to navigate to the folder where your presets reside. 7. Making sure you are in the right folder inside your file explorer, select all of the presets that you would like to import. After making the selection, click on import. 8. You will now be taken back to Lightroom where, depending on your computer speed, the presets will take a few seconds to be listed inside the folder you crated inside the presets box. 9. After you see the names of the imported presets, it is just a matter of testing these presets using the images we selected in the first step. Click on a name of a preset to apply it. http://www.infoparrot.com/how-to-install-lightroom-presets/ Learn how to install presets for Lightroom 5/6 on both MAC and PC. A preset is simply a combination of adjustments, or a recipe, that's been designed to solve specific problem. You can save your own presets as well as easily modify built in ones using the Adjustment controls. Presets are a great way to get the recommended adjustments for your image. Simply choose a preset that best matches your image’s subject. While presets are useful, remember they are really just a starting point. Presets cannot be combined or “stacked”, but they can be modified. Choose the one that solves most of your problems and then customize it with the Adjustment controls. You can then make your own presets to apply combinations of your favorite adjustments To Create a preset is easy. Simply use an existing preset and customize the controls or start from scratch. Once the sliders match your preferences its time to create a preset. Consider using options like the Automatic Strength Selection and Face Aware Exposure options to make a preset more useful. At the bottom of the Adjustment controls, click the Plus icon to Save the current settings as a new preset. You can also click the button labeled Add or edit a preset at the bottom of the Presets chooser. A new window opens. Enter a Preset Name, give it a descriptive name that’s easy to understand. Very long names may be cut off in the toolbar. Choose from any of the loaded User Preset groups or enter a name for a new group. Click to choose an icon from the list to help you find this preset later. You can also choose the ABC icon to use the first letter of each word of the preset name as the icon. Enter in a useful description for the new preset. This will make it easier to find and use the presets when working in Perfectly Clear. Click OK to store the new preset. That’s all there is to it! Now, you’ll see that Preset in the presets panel. It will be in a "User Preset" group, unless you had already selected custom Preset Group before saving the preset. If you want to make a new group to hold presets, that’s easy. Just click the Add a group button. Enter the group’s name and click the plus button to add it. Do not press the Return or Enter key when adding the name. You can easily move presets between groups. Make sure the left panel is open to view the Presets List. Open up any group you want to modify and just drag the preset you'd like to move into the new Group. Note you can only move User Presets, and you can only edit the contents of User Groups. The presets provided by Perfectly Clear cannot be renamed, moved, or deleted. However, you CAN choose a system preset and then modify it. Just save that as a new preset. This allows you to easily add that preset to any User Group. Making a custom group is a great way to customize the top toolbar. Just put your favorite into a custom group and you’ve now your own favorites just one click away. You can even use the shortcut keys 1—0 on the top of the keyboard to access your 10 favorite presets even faster. If you want to modify a user preset, start by selecting the Preset you’d like to modify. Now make any changes that you’d like to with the Adjustment controls. Click the Add a Preset button at the bottom of the Presets panel. Choose to save the preset with the same name and in the same group, and it will replace the previous preset. If you want to remove a preset, just locate it in the Presets list. Hover over the Preset or Group you would like to delete. A white 'trash can' icon will appear.Click the trash can icon to permanently delete the selected Preset or Group. In the pop-up window click Yes to confirm the deletion of the preset.

Quick video showing the two different types of bind, some Spektrum receivers support both preset and hold failsafe. The servos are labelled T for Throttle, A for Aileron and E for Elevator - A and E show the failsafe handling for ALL other channels except throttle. Hold failsafe - throttle goes to bind position (idle), all other channels hold last position when signal lost. Preset failsafe - all channels go to bind position when signal lost. The two binding procedures are: Preset Failsafe (where supported) power receiver with bind plug inserted, then immediately remove bind plug before switching on Tx with bind pressed. Hold failsafe power receiver with bind plug inserted and leave bind plug in while switching on Tx with bind pressed. List of receivers shown in video and the failsafe's they support below: Spektrum AR7610 - Both preset and Hold failsafe OrangeRX R800X - Both preset and Hold failsafe (I also have AR8000 which supports both preset and hold failsafe) OrangeRX R615 - only hold failsafe Spektrum AR6210 - only hold failsafe Spektrum AR6100e - Only Preset failsafe For most small models, there probably isn't much to choose, as depending on the exact circumstances where signal is lost, either may be good or bad. For GPS quadcopters with return home feature, a preset failsafe ensures the quad will return home if signal is lost, so is a big plus, you can workaround this with Naza by using Heli model type, and throttle channel for U (flight mode select) and pitch/Aux1 channel for Naza throttle, this way you are using your 'preset failsafe' throttle channel to select return home flight mode, set flat throttle curves for your flight modes (GPS/atti/manual) and flat hold throttle position for failsafe/return home. I posted another video on Naza transmitter setup which goes through this and how to safely check failsafe on the bench with props removed. My advice is to make sure you understand the two types of failsafe, and select the most appropriate one for your aircraft, also make sure you test this on the ground (with props removed for safety), so you KNOW what your model will do in the case of signal loss before it happens. Hope this is useful.

Build Your Own Tap Tempo and Preset Selector for Nova Delay

In my last video I modified a TC Electronic Nova Delay to have External Tap Tempo and Preset Selector capabilities. This video shows you how to construct your own tap tempo pedal to take advantage of this. This pedal works with the Nova delay and Boss units. It may well work for other delay units, I haven't tried them. All parts for this pedal were ordered from http://www.pedalpartsaustralia.com/ and came to a total of around $15. Should you choose to only have tap tempo or preset selection, then you only require 1 switch and Tip/Sleeve or mono jacks, not Tip/Ring/Sleeve stereo jacks for the output. The video for the Nova Delay modification can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dh-_wn2VkF0 FYI, some people (myself included) noticed that Boss and TC units didn't sync up at the same time. This can be seen in the video. I personally didn't notice because I have a fairly even stroke when pressing these pedals, and the Boss and TC units have different time measuring clocks, so the numbers will always be different. That said, Boss use a Normally Closed (NC) circuit, and TC use a Normally Open (NO) circuit. If your Boss registers your tap when you press the switch, and the TC registers the tap when you release the switch, then you may need a DPDT momentary switch, instead of the SPST switches shown in the video. In this case the Sleeve of your jacks each need to be connected to a center prong, and the Tips of your jacks will need to be connected to either the NC or NO pole according to with pedal is being used. This will cause the boss and TC units to sync up at the same time. Hope this helps. Feel free to comment or PM me with any questions. You can find a DPDT switch here: http://www.pedalpartsaustralia.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_13&products_id=45

In this video review, Pro Tools Expert Deputy Editor Dan Cooper takes a look at UVI's latest Synth instrument - UVX80. For more information and to purchase UVX80 visit the UVI website

The latest firmware for the Intellijel Cylonix Shapeshifter adds and improves a huge list of features. This video gives a short demonstration of what's new in 2.02. Version 2.02 Changed: encoder selection for CHORD TYPE or BANK now wraps around the entire list but quick rotation will shortcut you (stop) at the list end or beginning. Version 2.01.1 Fixed: COMB+LOAD operation to initialize all settings to zero. Version 2.01 Added: the CHORD TYPE parameter can now be controlled by the MODB signal. Added: the wave bank selection for oscillators 1 and 2 can now be controlled by the MODB signal. Added: the two oscillators now have independently selectable SYNC MODES, and both now have 1-shot and Hold modes. Added: pressing the INT. SYNC button twice causes the internal sync event generator to drop in frequency by one octave (the INT. SYNC LED flashes when this mode is selected). Added: when the QUANT. button is pressed twice the PITCH2 input becomes a CLOCK input for oscillator 2, where the period of the oscillator 2 cycle is equal to the input clock period. The QUANT. led flashes in this mode. In this mode the RATIO input sets the clock division/multiplication factor. Added: 8 more pulse modes, including PWM, Square and random. Added: added another mode to the PRESET STEP menu, where the preset is randomized on each step. Added: pressing COMBO MODE and MORPH while in PRESET MODE randomizes the settings. Added: pressing DETUNE and LOAD while in PRESET MODE displays the firmware version. Added: the oscillator 2 output can be directed to modulate the SHAPE1 or TILT parameters. Added: the MODA signal can now be used to serve as the SYNC source for oscillator 2 or to step presets. Changed: the DECAY parameter range has been changed to give a smoother change with more values at longer decay times. Changed: the PERC. MODE LED now flashes when the Gate behaviour is selected (by pressing the PERC. MODE button twice). Changed: the initial part of the INT. FM control curve has been changed to give more resolution at the low end. Changed: the number of presets has been increased to 100 and all presets are now stored in non-volatile memory. The presets now have user-definable 8-character labels, which can be randomized. Changed: the number of the last preset to be loaded or saved is remembered, and is loaded upon powerup (previously preset# 1 was loaded on powerup). Changed: the range of the TILT parameter has been lowered by a factor of 4. This gives more resolution in the interesting range of the tilt effect. Changed: the bank numbers and chord type no longer wrap around, making it easier to reach the ends. Changed: knobs are set to soft-pickup after a preset is loaded, even when leaving preset mode. Soft-pickup action is changed so that the knob takes over from the preset value when it is moved a little bit. Changed: the labels for the MODA destinations “Shape1” and “Shape2” have been changed to “Shaper1” and “Shaper2” to better reflect the actual behaviour in these modes. Fixed: Added a short (4msec) delay to the MODB Preset Stepping after the sync pulse is received. This is needed because many sequencers send the gate signal before the voltage has settled to its new value.

http://www.alexanderpedals.com/ Welcome back to ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com. Today we're heading into the Oblivion Vintage Delay from Alexander Pedals. Alexander has escalated from Amnesia to full-on Oblivion, radically enhancing the Amnesia's feature set for a premium analog-modeling experience. Typically, feature-rich delay pedals require a significant time investment with time spent cycling through menus and banks, but the Oblivion sounds great right out of the box at any setting. The oblivion's expression control is a breeze, while remaining extremely powerful. Any of the unit's five knobs can be controlled simultaneously with just one expression pedal, allowing for advanced delay control unlike anything on the market. The Oblivion's four modes cover the full range of classic analog delay, including Analog, Tape, Oilcan and Multihead. Five presets can be saved and recalled instantly by pressing and holding the tap button, and several hidden parameters can be accessed by holding the Select button. These controls are set-and-forget types but give players control over all facets of the pedal, including tone, modulation waveforms and output level. The Oblivion's expression jack can be reconfigured for an external tap tempo switch that helps keep pedalboard wiring tidy. A MIDI jack on the back dramatically expands the presets to 128, and lets players sync the Oblivion to a master clock.
